British athletes set 7 new British records at the IWF World Weightlifting Championships which ran from November 1-10 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Commonwealth Games silver medalist Jack Oliver, competing in the Men's 81kg class, delivered for Britain with a 143kg snatch, a 176kg clean and jerk, and a 319kg total. Oliver previously competed at the London 2012 Olympics in the 77kg class, finishing with a 310kg total and placing 10th overall – the best position of any British lifter at the games.
